Screenplayground Podcast – INTRODUCTION

A little intro by Thomas Cunningham & Patrick Guera on who we are and what we have in store for Screenplayground in the upcoming weeks. The short version: we want it to be THE go-to site for not only script notes but information on the craft, interviews and the signature “What If?” podcast where we break a randomly generated plot into the basic story foundation for a script.

Screenplayground Podcast – What If? “The Wallet”

In this episode of What if? Thomas Cunningham & Patrick Guera break a psychological thriller/drama about Henry, a struggling actor, who returns a wallet that belongs to a very wealthy man named Greg. In return for his kindness, Greg befriends Henry and offers to make all his dreams come true but it soon becomes apparent that Greg has more sinister motives and twisted plans for Henry. This is a good one, guys! Lotsa cat and mouse, twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat!

Screenplayground Podcast – What If? “Haunted Houseparty”

What If? Wednesday! Get excited! Once again Patrick Guera and Thomas Cunningham take a random dumb/weird/vague story idea and try to develop it into an idea for a movie.
In this one, a lawyer trying to start a new life buys a beautiful old house in the south. As she’s fixing it up, she realizes it’s haunted by a creepy Civil War soldier! She calls the host of a Ghost Hunter type show for help. Together they discover there are other ghosts…. A 1970s house wife and a 1990s Ron Funches?!?
That’s right, folks! This is a comedy!

Screenplayground Podcast – What If? “Brad Shaman”

What If? Wednesday! Once again Patrick Guera and Thomas Cunningham take a random dumb/weird/vague story idea and try to develop it into an idea for a movie. We “break the story” as they say in the industry.

In this one, we get deep into a story of a grieving husband named Steve who meets a shaman of sorts who tells him he can help him travel back in time and save his wife with the help of powerful drugs. Mind-bending with twists and intrigue.

You’re gonna love this one.

Screenplayground Podcast – What If? “Paul Rudd the Assassin!”

Paul Rudd the Assassin!

We’re BACK! What If? Wednesday! Once again Patrick Guera and Thomas Cunningham take a random dumb/weird/vague story idea and try to develop it into an idea for a movie. We “break the story” as they say in the industry.

In this one, we cast the beloved Paul Rudd as an assassin that is blackmailed into doing a job that he doesn’t want to do. The premise was a little more vague than usual so there was more to fill in. Consequently, this episode is longer than usual. Look at it this way, there was no What If? last Weds. so we’re making it up to you with a DOUBLE SIZE episode! Don’t worry. You’ll love it! PAUL RUDD is in it!

Screenplayground Podcast – Game of Thrones

The Mother of Dragons

Patrick Guera spent 8+ years watching Game of Thrones. Thomas Cunningham watched the whole series in 10 days. What did we think? What did they get right? What could they have done better? Who did we love, who did we hate? Who did we love to hate? Is there any merit to the harsh criticism of the final season?
The Dink! The Hound! Tormund! Daenerys! Cersei! Varys! So many amazing characters! Enjoy us scratching the surface of one of the most popular and epic TV shows of our era.

Screenplayground Podcast – What If? “Jedi Weed”

In this episode of What if? Thomas Cunningham & Patrick Guera break a story about an ex-Jedi and his gardener who want to grow a plant that when ingested gives a normal person Jedi powers. Something so powerful is not without danger and potential conflict.

Mr. Roboto our AI Producer has somehow gotten the rights to this Star Wars stand-alone idea and as always given roughly 30mins to break into a usable foundation for a screenplay.  Enjoy! Screenplayground podcast – What If? “Kat & Mouse”

In this episode of What if? Thomas Cunningham & Patrick Guera break a story about a Dancing Virgin vs. an angry, scuppering mouse!

We are given a ridiculous premise by Robot Producer (a random generated plot via the internet) and we must break the story and have a basic, workable plot upon which a script could be written… in roughly 30 mins to do this. Robot Producer is a maniac. Let us know what you think! If you love the show please share it and subscribe on iTunes & give it 5 stars & a review. This will really help us get the show heard. Thanks!
